We’ve recently adopted a new security feature, IP Whitelist, that will restrict online banking access to specified IP addresses only. For those of you who may not know, each computer you use to access the internet is assigned an IP address. This feature allows our customers to provide us with their public IP address which will be added to their “IP Whitelist”. Once the Whitelist is active, this will deny online banking access to anyone attempting to log in from a different IP address other than the one(s) provided. For example, if I enter the IP address for my main computer to the Whitelist and then attempt to log in to my online banking from a secondary computer, I will be denied access.
This tool allows us to enter as many IP addresses as needed as well as a range of IP addresses. It also allows us to specify an IP address for a limited amount of time. For example, if you are traveling and trying to log in from a computer owned by a hotel, we can enter that hotel computer’s IP address for any amount of time that you specify (in day increments). Currently, there is no fee associated with this security feature.
We also want to take this time to remind our customers that we do offer a fraud mitigation service called Positive Pay. Positive Pay allows our customers to monitor the debits, both check and ACH, as they post against the account. Our customers have the ability to pay or return debit items via their online banking.
